Book launch at New London Synagogue

Spiro Ark and New London Synagogue are honoured to invite you to an extraordinary evening in observance of International Holocaust Memorial Day.

🗓 Date: Sunday, 26th January 2025

🕕 Time: 6:00 PM

📍 Location: New London Synagogue

This evening of reflection, remembrance and inspiration marks the launch of Victoria Nizan’s powerful new book, Emanuel Ringelblum and Reuven Ben-Shem's War Writings.

Unearthed Memories of the Warsaw Ghetto

Dr. Emanuel Ringelblum, a historian and leader of the Warsaw Ghetto’s Oneg Shabbat project, risked his life to preserve a detailed record of life in the ghetto for future generations.

He and his team buried these invaluable documents in ten metal boxes and two milk cans, hidden beneath the rubble.

In September 1946, three metal boxes were recovered from the ruins of a house.

By December 1950, the milk cans containing the second part of the archive were unearthed.

Today, these materials are preserved at the Jewish Historical Institute in Warsaw, offering us a poignant glimpse into the resilience and courage of those who lived through the Holocaust.

A Candle of Remembrance

We are privileged to welcome Mother Kate Harrison, Vicar of St. Mark’s, Hamilton Terrace, who will light a candle in memory of the righteous gentiles. those brave souls who risked everything to save Jewish lives during the Holocaust.
