NEW: Jewish History Month

Join us and celebrate Jewish History Month in March

This year we declare March as Jewish History Month.  And why not?  The Jewish community is one of the UK’s oldest ethnic communities with an exciting story to tell.

Across the country, the JHSE have organised some fantastic events … and you’re invited.  The always entertaining Geoffrey Alderman will talk in London about the Board of Deputies and their involvement with communal defence.  In Essex, Geoffrey Cantor will give a presentation on the Jewish Chronicle newspaper and Punch magazine.  Visit the South Coast in Sussex to hear Danny talk about his late father Chaim Bermant, the talented historian and great wit of the Jewish Chronicle newspaper.

We don’t just focus on Anglo-Jewish history.  In Liverpool, David Fishel will be giving an audio-visual presentation featuring the history of Jews in Jazz.  Leeds will reflect on the American Jewish community’s conflict with Israel.  For a journey to the dark side, we have John Matin who will speak to our Hertfordshire and Middlesex branch on Jewish gangsters.
