The Cairo Genizah in the digital age
18th February 2021 | 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm
The digital revolution has spurred the greatest advances in research on the Cairo Genizah since Solomon Schechter’s first discovery of the collection in the late 1890s. From the digitisation of images, through text mining, and automated transcription, the Genizah continues to be at the forefront of new research methods in the ‘digital humanities’.
Dr Ben Outhwaite, Director of the Genizah Research Centre, Cambridge University Library will address a JHSE audience on the 18th February at 8pm via Zoom.
Zoom details to follow.
