The Armistice – How Did It Work?
Tuesday, 16 November 2021 | 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm
How did the Armistice work in an age without modern communication, bearing in mind that this was a war which affected many parts of the world?
Dr Ronnie Fraser will explain how the British brought back their men, machinery and what happened to the horses. Then there was the matter of the Prisoners of War on both sides, how they had been treated and how long it took to repatriate them. Finally how the nation decided to commemorate the huge sacrifice made by everyone. All of these topics will be discussed through the perspective of the Jewish community.
Dr Ronnie Fraser is a researcher for the website ‘British Jews in the First World War-We Were There Too’ which captures, records and preserves the impact, experience and contribution of Britain’s Jewish communities during the First World War
