Launching Pam Fox’s new book: Jews by the Seaside
Thursday, 24 March 2022 | 8:00 pm - 9:30 pm£5.00
Pam will be taking about her latest book, Jews at the Seaside: The Jewish Hotels and Guest Houses of Bournemouth, charting the rise and decline of the Jewish holiday trade and describing various aspects of hotel life. The book is based largely on oral history interviews and Pam will be sharing some of the lovely anecdotes that appear in her book. There will be time for questions and sharing memories of the hotels and guest houses.
Following a career as a chief officer in local government and as a senior civil servant advising on local government policy, for the last ten years Pam has been working full time as a researcher and writer, specialising in Jewish social history. Over the last seven years she has had six books published, several of which have been largely based on oral history materials, including her successful book on the Jewish community of Golders Green and her hundred-year history of the Rinkoff bakery in the East End of London.
