The John Rylands Library, Deansgate, has a wide variety of Judaica and Hebrew printed books. A curator from the museum, Jane Gallagher, will share highlights of the collection which includes rare and early Hebrew printing, Judeo-Spanish literature and even Robert Wakefield’s 1524 Oratio de laudibus et utilitate trium linguarum Arabicae, Chaldaicae et Hebraicae (‘On the Three Languages’), which was the first Hebrew and Arabic in a book printed in England.
In all there will be at least 12 rare books to see which will all be contextualised and there will be time for a discussion and Q&A. So please join us as we see the Jewish heritage which lies in the John Rylands Library.
Entry is free but space limits us to 30 people so please email firstname.lastname@example.org to reserve a place.
