About the event
Join us to celebrate 200 years since the first record of the Brighton Hebrew Congregation inn 1824. The meeting will be opened by the President of the Society, Miri Rubin, followed by speakers Michael Crook and Professor Tony Kushner.
14.00 – 14.15 Miri Rubin (President JHSE)
14.15 - 15.15 - Michael Crook (Sussex Branch Chair) – Two hundred years of the Brighton (and Hove) Hebrew Congregation.
15.15 – 15.30 Tea break
15.30 – 16.30 Professor Tony Kushner (Southampton University) - An unorthodox History of Sussex Jewry - Jewish life outside Brighton & Hove, which Tony has been researching, and which forms the subject of his forthcoming book.
